Your Life Path number

Your Life Path number is the most important number in numerology. It comes from your full date of birth and describes your natural character and the lessons your life keeps bringing you. Here is how to work it out and what it means.

The full deep dive

How to work it out

Reduce the day, the month and the year of your birth separately, then add the three results and reduce again. Here is an example for 14 July 1990:

  • Day 14: 1 + 4 = 5
  • Month 7: already one digit, so 7
  • Year 1990: 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19, then 1 + 9 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1
  • Add them: 5 + 7 + 1 = 13, then 1 + 3 = 4

So someone born on 14 July 1990 has Life Path 4.

If you reach 11, 22 or 33 at any stage, keep it: these are master numbers. For example, 1 January 1980 gives 1 + 1 + 9 = 11.

What it means

Your Life Path is like the road you are walking. It describes the qualities that come naturally, the kind of work and relationships that feel right, and the lessons that keep turning up until you learn them.
