How Starlight compatibility readings work
A Starlight compatibility reading compares two people using astrology, numerology and the Chinese zodiac together, and you choose the relationship: partner, parent, child, sibling or friend. Here is what it looks at and how to read it.
The full deep dive
Not just for couples
Compatibility is about any close bond. When you compare two people on Starlight you choose the relationship, and the reading is written for it: partner, mother, father, son, daughter, sibling or friend. A Rat and a Horse clash means something different between business partners than between a mother and daughter.
Three lenses
- The Chinese zodiac. Are your animals in the same friend group, secret friends, a clash, or something in between? See Chinese zodiac compatibility.
- Numerology. How do your Life Path numbers get on? Are they in the same number family? See Numerology compatibility.
- Astrology. How do your Sun, Moon, Venus and Mars signs meet, and, with birth times, the deeper links between your charts? See Synastry: comparing two charts.
Reading the result
Starlight doesn’t give a single score out of 100. Real relationships are not a number. Instead, each lens describes where you flow easily, where you may need patience, and what each of you brings to the other. When all three lenses agree, it is a strong theme; when they disagree, you get a more interesting, more human picture.
A gentle reminder
A challenging match is not a doomed one. Some of the warmest, longest relationships are between opposites who have learned from each other. Use the reading to understand each other better, never to decide whether someone is “right” for you.
