Your Moon sign
Your Moon sign is the sign the Moon was in when you were born. It describes your emotional nature, your instincts and what you need to feel safe and loved, often the part of you only close people see.

What the Moon shows
If the Sun is who you are becoming, the Moon is where you come from. It describes your feelings, moods and habits, how you react when you are tired or upset, and what makes you feel at home. Astrologers also link it to your early home life and to how you care for others.
Why your birth time can matter
The Moon moves quickly, changing sign roughly every two and a half days. For most birthdays the date is enough, but if the Moon changed sign on your birthday, the time decides it. Starlight will tell you if your Moon sign depends on a time you have not given.
The Moon in each element
- Fire Moon (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): needs excitement, encouragement and room to act. Feels better by doing something.
- Earth Moon (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): needs routine, comfort and practical security. Feels better with things in order.
- Air Moon (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): needs conversation, ideas and fairness. Feels better by talking it through.
- Water Moon (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): needs closeness, understanding and emotional honesty. Feels better by being truly heard.
Sun and Moon together
When your Sun and Moon are in the same element, what you want and what you need line up nicely. When they are very different, such as a bold Aries Sun with a sensitive Cancer Moon, you may feel pulled two ways. That is not a problem, just a richer personality, and knowing both sides helps.
