Your Personal Year number
Numerology sees life in nine-year cycles. Your Personal Year number shows which year of the cycle you are in and what theme it brings, from fresh starts in a 1 year to letting go in a 9 year.
The full deep dive
How to work it out
Add your birth day, your birth month and the current year, reducing each one, then reduce the total. Master numbers are not kept here.
Example: a birthday of 14 July, in 2026.
- Day 14: 1 + 4 = 5
- Month 7: 7
- Year 2026: 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1
- 5 + 7 + 1 = 13, then 1 + 3 = 4
So for this person 2026 is a Personal Year 4. Most numerologists count the year from 1 January; some count it from your birthday. Starlight uses 1 January.
The nine-year cycle
- Beginnings. Plant seeds: start projects, make plans, be brave.
- Patience. Things grow quietly. Focus on partnerships, cooperation and rest.
- Expression. A sociable, creative year. Share your ideas and enjoy yourself.
- Foundations. Hard work, organisation and building something solid.
- Change. Freedom, travel, surprises and a welcome shake-up.
- Home and heart. Family, love, responsibility and caring for others.
- Reflection. A quieter year for study, rest, faith and finding answers within.
- Harvest. Achievement, recognition, money matters and stepping into your power.
- Completion. Finish, forgive and clear space for the new cycle ahead.
The Universal Year
The calendar year has a number for everyone, too. 2026 adds up to 1 (2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, then 1), so 2026 is a Universal Year 1: a fresh start for the world as a whole.
