Pluto: power and transformation
Pluto is the planet of deep change, power, endings and rebirth. Its sign describes the great themes of your generation, and its house shows where you go through your biggest transformations.
The full deep dive
The planet itself
Pluto was discovered in 1930 and reclassified by astronomers as a dwarf planet in 2006. Astrologers still use it. Its orbit is so stretched that it spends anywhere from 12 to 30 years in a sign. Modern astrologers give it rulership of Scorpio.
What it means in your chart
Pluto describes power, intensity and the cycle of letting go and starting again. It is linked with what is hidden, with crisis and with the strength found on the other side of it.
By element
Pluto’s sign is shared by everyone born over decades, so its house position is the more personal part.
Good to know
Pluto entered Aquarius for good in late 2024, a shift many astrologers link with changes in technology and society.
